The ABCs of Successful Vintaging

Posted on October 20, 2025October 21, 2025 by Carolee Nelson-Hall

Editor’s Note: An essential part of our path is knowing when to change. The leaves know. They mature as nature intended. Do we know when and how to mature? Here are some fun yet serious suggestions.

**

A. Adopt a living thing that needs what you have an excess of. Adopt a pet, a needy friend.
B. Celebrate Birthdays! They are milestones.
C. Comparison is a dead-end street.
D. Dignity: show all life dignity and don’t attempt doing the limbo!
E. Enjoy! Don’t wait to enjoy.
F. Floss out resentments daily.
G. Don’t be a GRUMPY old fart.
H. Accept Help.
I. Stop believing you are Invisible.
J. You’ll know when it’s time to give away your Jewelry.
K. Be the King of Kindness.
L. Always be a Learner. Use your Library card.
M. Maintenance, Maintenance, Maintenance.
N. “No” is a complete sentence.
O. Open your clenched fists and let go.
P. Pray as if someone is listening to you.
Q. Q-TIP: Quit Taking It Personally.
R. Give up being RIGHT. Your friendships will last longer.
S. Shhhh, you might hear God.
T. Tickle others and get Tickled.
U. Understand. Don’t just know the facts. Crack the code.
V. Verily, Verily I say to you: be the grownup in the room.
W. Wonder, Wink and take lots of Walks.
X. Become an “X” something.
Y. Yodel. Why not?
Z. Zap your regrets. Lean toward a Zero Regret Zone.

You are so cool Carolee – always sharing something so pithy and memorable and worthwhile. Some I will embrace as my own: Don’t wait to enjoy! Use your library card, Verily I say unto you, be the grownup in the room.
    Thanks for these gifts!

Carolee, Your musings are always spot on!
I thoroughly enjoy your perspectives and cleverness putting thoughts into words.
I ALWAYS find myself chuckling at the word pictures you paint.

Many words of wisdom. What a creative and clever way to pass that wisdom on to us.

    Wonderful observations

I also love your title, which is very appropriate

It’s absolutely shocking. How many of my friends are looking at the jewelry issue right now it’s so funny that you nailed it.!
